About Andover Dentistry
A tooth cracks on a Tuesday morning bite of toast. A parent realizes their one-year-old has never had a dental visit and isn't sure when to start. Someone has lived with a loose partial denture for years and has finally decided to do something about it. A person wakes up for the third month in a row with a headache that seems to start in the jaw. These are the kinds of moments that bring people through our doors in North Andover, and each one deserves a thoughtful answer rather than a rushed one. Our job is to listen first, explain clearly, and then treat — in that order.
We are a general dental practice led by Dr. Emma Wu, DMD, our Dental Director, working alongside her associates to provide general, cosmetic, implant and aesthetic dentistry for the Andover and North Andover communities. The thread running through everything we do is personalized, patient-focused care. That phrase gets used often in dentistry, so here is what it actually means in our office: we take the time to understand what you want from your teeth, what you can realistically manage, and what has or hasn't worked for you in the past before we recommend anything.
That approach matters because the range of needs we see is genuinely wide. We care for patients of all ages, including children from age one and up, and parents are always welcome in the treatment room with their child. On the other end of the spectrum, we handle complex treatment planning, full mouth reconstruction, and implant work including All-on-4 and All-on-X solutions. A family can have a toddler's first visit, a teenager's orthodontic consultation, and a grandparent's implant-supported denture planning all coordinated in one practice, which saves a great deal of driving, paperwork, and repeated explanation.
One of the most common questions we hear is some version of "how many appointments will this take?" It is a fair question, because dental treatment has historically meant multiple visits, temporary restorations, and waiting on outside laboratories. We've invested in technology specifically to shorten that path. With CEREC same-day crowns, many patients who need a crown can be scanned, have the restoration designed and milled, and leave with the final crown seated — in a single appointment. We also use 3D scanning and printing, and we maintain an on-site dental lab.
Having a lab in the building changes the rhythm of care in practical ways. Denture repairs and adjustments don't have to be shipped out and waited on. Fit and shade can be refined while you're here. For prosthodontic work — conventional complete and partial dentures, fixed implant-supported bridges, implant-supported dentures — the back-and-forth between dentist and technician happens in the same hallway rather than across a week of courier runs. For cosmetic cases like porcelain veneers or a smile makeover, it means closer control over the small details that make a result look natural rather than manufactured.
What a Visit With Us Looks Like
Most new patients start with a dental exam, a cleaning with our hygienist, and an oral cancer screening. From there, we talk. If treatment is needed, we want you to understand why, what the alternatives are, and what happens if you wait. If nothing is needed, we'll tell you that too.
Here is what you can generally expect from us:
- Straight explanations of what we see, in plain language, with the imaging to show you
- Emergency appointments available when something breaks, aches, or gets knocked loose — including same-day emergency care for urgent root canal concerns
- No referral required for endodontic, oral surgery, orofacial pain, or prosthodontic care within our practice
- Sedation dentistry (IV) available for patients whose anxiety or treatment complexity calls for it
- Self-pay and cash patients welcome, with financing options detailed on our Insurance & Financing page
We file insurance claims as a General Practitioner across our service areas, including pediatric, endodontic, oral surgery, orthodontic, orofacial pain, and prosthodontic treatment. If you have questions about how that applies to your plan, ask us before treatment begins — we would rather have that conversation early than have you surprised later.
The Range of Care We Provide Under One Roof
Prevention is the foundation: exams, cleanings, fluoride treatment, oral cancer screenings, and gum disease treatment. Restorative care covers crowns, bridges, inlays, onlays, and root canal therapy for anterior, premolar, and molar teeth, including cracked teeth and traumatic dental injuries. Surgical care includes simple and surgical extractions, wisdom teeth removal, and bone grafting when the jaw needs rebuilding before implants.
Beyond that, we offer orthodontics for both children and adults through Invisalign, other clear aligners, and traditional braces; cosmetic services including in-office teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, gum contouring, and tooth recontouring; TMJ and TMD therapy for jaw clicking, locking, limited movement, jaw-related headaches, chronic facial pain, and persistent pain with no identified dental cause; and night mouth guards for patients who grind.
Rooted in North Andover and Andover
We're a neighborhood practice serving North Andover and Andover, and the families we see tend to stay with us across years and generations. That continuity shapes how we practice. When we know a patient's history — the grinding habit, the anxious childhood visit, the crown placed six years ago — we make better recommendations.
If you're looking for a dental home where the explanations are thorough and the pace is yours to set, we'd be glad to meet you.
